Steve has one of the sweetest, smoothest pop voices I’ve ever encountered. He also has a hell of a mustache. On top of all that, February Third has gorgeous Elliott Smith-esque chorus harmonies and a tuba. A tuba. I love this man.
Words/music/guitars/vocals: Steve Goldberg
Tuba: King Wang
Born into a family of Chechnyan goat farmers and orphaned at an early age by a tragic encounter with a marauding pack of feral dogs, Steve Goldberg was soon taken in by a kind-hearted band of gypsies with an abiding love for 60s guitar pop. The rest is history.
I'm selling junk out in the yard
from the basement of my heart
I've cleaned off all the cobwebs and the dust
A box of baby's clothes
some tapes of my favorite TV shows
and memories of you all red with rust
I've got records and casettes
a broken marionette
and all our conversations on index cards
Seven single shoes
a bicycle built for two
should've sold it long ago, but it was too hard
So come on, so come on
don't be slow
everything must go
the end is surely gonna come
so I'm getting out while I'm still young
This is a special clearance price
it'll never happen twice
and some things, when they're gone, are gone for food
I'm gonna leave this lonely place
and go somewhere no one knows my face
cause you've done me wrong again just like I knew you would
