Phia’s House is what I think of as happy highway music. A motoring beat and a lush chorus that feels just right with the window down and one hand on the wheel. (Like in the first fifteen minutes of a horror movie, before the killing starts? Yeah. Happy music!)

Lyrics:

Midnight on the lawn
An empty street to choose
Nothing but the open sky
Falling onto you
Trying to get lost
Beneath the virgin stars
A warm July night covered in the moonlit dark

I can see it opening
Like a rose the night will bring
And all the joy that I can sing about
I can't get you off my mind
And I would have you any time
You never know what we might find
When we go out

Destiny, it booms
Just like a cannonball
Across the big and open grass
Over the wall
In the darkness of the dawn
When shapes are still obscure
We're touching just a little more before the world returns

Drink it in, you know the taste
It's sweeter than love's warm embrace
Stare off into outer space and the orchestra
There's music coming from the sky
It's falling down on us tonight
In a perfect symphony of light and the stars above
Just look up

I will have you on my mind
So long after the time
Everything we did was wild when we'd go out
You can jump into the river's mouth
Warm like air deep from the south
Go to sleep, never come out
Never wake up

What once was near, it now is far
What once was light, it now is dark
An empty street that's lined with bars has disappeared
And in my heart the memory
Is all locked up, I tossed the key
It's not what it's supposed to be about
